Ryan Stuckey
District 41
Millsboro, Dagsboro, Gumboro, Frankford, Selbyville, Millville
About Ryan
Ryan has lived his whole life in Dagsboro. He has seen it dramatically change along with the rest of Sussex County in the last few decades and believes that if we want to make sure it is the right of change, district 41 needs a real voice in Dover.
He has made his campaign about people over politics, based on issues that everyone cares about, chief among them being the overdevelopment of luxury vacation homes that no one living in the district can afford, which builds up traffic and cuts down our trees and infects our marshlands.
He currently owns a cafe on Main Street in Dagsboro with his wife and serves on the Dagsboro Planning and Zoning committee where he creates bi-partisan solutions to make his town a better place.
Priorities
Smart Growth vs Over-development
Sussex is one of the fastest growing counties in the country. That is something to be proud of, but it is also a signal that we cannot continue uncontrolled sprawl. In order to maintain the character of our towns, keep housing affordable, and protect our infrastructure and environment, we have to implement measures alongside county council to ensure any further growth is done in a responsible manner that does not leave current residents with the short end of the stick. Ryan can practice what he preaches, as he has achieved bi-partisan measures as a member of Dagsboro's planning committee.
Healthcare Access
Healthcare is far too inaccessible in Sussex County. It takes us months just to get a checkup scheduled, even though we spend more on healthcare than any other country. Ryan supports measures that will make Delaware more attractive for healthcare professionals and lower healthcare costs for seniors and children.
Fighting Data Centers
Multiple data centers have been proposed in Delaware, none of which would benefit Delawareans more than they benefit their builders and Silicon Valley corporations. Ryan supports legislation to block these projects wherever they are proposed. We can be for progress and technology without sacrificing our state's wellbeing.
Infrastructure
The developments coming to Delaware are being built faster than the roads, storm drains, electrical lines––everything we need to maintain our standard of living. Ryan has already made progress this year, with Delaware's congress member approving Ryan's Dagsboro police department grant to Congress. He is promising to sponsor legislative whereby any new developments are equally responsible for installing infrastructure to support their projects.
Quality Education
Education is the best investment we can make for the future of our state. Every kid deserves a fair shot at life. When we invest in education, we are not only improving the life of every child, but making Delaware a better place to live for the people who serve us: Our doctors and nurses, our EMTs and police officers, our social workers and other professionals. We need a strong education system for a strong and sustainable Delaware.
