Representative
Krista Griffith
District 12
Wilmington, Greenville, Hockessin
About Krista
Krista Griffith is a mom, an attorney, and a voice for Delaware's families. Since being elected to the Delaware House of Representatives in 2018, she has built her career on fighting injustice wherever it is: in our schools, in our homes, online, and against our elders.
She has always been looking forward to embrace new opportunities, like the growing biomedical sector of Delaware's economy, while preventing emerging threats, by disabling data brokers from selling our private information and founding the Delaware Artificial Intelligence Commission to ensure guardrails are put in place against this emerging technology.
She lives in the Fairfax neighborhood of North Wilmington with her husband, her two sons, and her black labrador.
Priorities & Accomplishments
Accessible Healthcare
Krista has been a champion for increasing accessible healthcare while making it more affordable for the poor and disabled. She pushed for raising the income cap for medicaid eligibility and voted for SB1, which increased hospital spending on primary care services.
Protecting Our Rights and Freedom
Krista gained wide recognition for her founding of the Family Justice Center which provides a door to services for victims of domestic violence, elder abuse, child abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking. She is also a strong supporter of voting rights reform, including the mail-in voting and same-day registration amendments, and protections for LGBT Delawareans.
High Quality Education
In a time where freedom of speech and expression has come under attack from the Trump administration, Krista passed the Freedom to Read Act, which barred school and local libraries from unfairly banning books. She also expanded 529 plans and ABLE accounts to make higher education more affordable.
AI & Data Centers
The AI revolution is rapidly changing everything about our lives. This requires guidance and regulation to prevent abuse. Krista has used her seat to combat the creation of AI deepfakes and misinformation in Delaware, as well as to establish the Delaware AI Commission which guides the use of AI throughout the state.
Fiscal Responsibility
We have to be smart with our resources in order for our government to work for the people. Krista helped create a new office of Inspector General to hold the government accountable in its spending and general activity. Meanwhile, she raised the minimum wage to $15, raised wages for teachers to be competitive with neighboring states, and aided in creating Delaware's sick leave program.
