About Eric
Eric is a life-long Delawarean, originally coming from Sussex County before moving upstate to attend the University of Delaware. He has spent his whole career as a public servant, spending multiple years as a public school teacher before working for state medical programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and numerous others.
Since his election to the House in 2020, he has spent his time tackling issues across the board, ranging from expanding civil rights and protections, to healthcare access and reforms, to criminal justice reform. Most important to him is staying connected with his constituents and answering any calls that require a voice in Dover.
Priorities & Accomplishments
Education Reform
As a former teacher himself, Eric understands the difficulties of the public education system. He has advocated for expanding STEM and vocational programs to prepare students for their careers and higher education, the newly enacted equitable funding formula to make sure every student gets a fair shot regardless of where they come from, and higher teacher pay to bring us in-line with neighboring states.
Accessible healthcare
Access to healthcare is a long-time passion for Eric. He worked in public healthcare outreach for over a decade and enrolled thousands of seniors into Medicare Part D. He championed a bill that makes hospitals pay for more primary care and works closely with mental health programs and mobile clinics to increase access for the poor, disabled, and elderly.
Energy and Sustainability
Delaware is in a difficult place, between high energy costs and climate change. Eric supported measures that would force large facilities like data centers to provide their own power as well as a battery storage system to provide power during peak usage hours. He also supports urban green efforts and increased use of public transit to curb the emissions of greenhouse gases.
Affordable Housing
The 27th district has been growing very quickly, but housing is only growing more unaffordable. Eric backed the recent effort to speed up permitting processes and approval to build new housing, making home ownership more obtainable for the next generation of working families.
Civil Rights
Eric is an outspoken supporter of individual rights and liberties. He voted in favor of all four voting rights amendments, including vote-by-mail and same-day registration, as well as the amendments to codify gay marriage and reproductive rights into the state constitution. He fought in multiple terms to pass the bill that gives conscious, terminally ill patients the right to a medically assisted death.
