Representative
Bill Carson
District 28
Smyrna, Hickory Ridge, Leipsic, North Dover
About Bill
Bill Carson is a lifelong resident of Smyrna, a former fire chief, an air force veteran, and state representative from the 28th district. All of those titles have the same motive for Bill: public service.
He has spent his time in the General Assembly advocating for support for veterans and first responders, as they are the ones who help us in our hour of need. He has also been an advocate for Delaware's farmers and protection of our wetlands and wildlife.
He lives in Smyrna with Betty, his wife of 51 years.
Priorities & Accomplishments
Education Reform
Delaware public schools places near the bottom of the national rankings in reading and math. This is unacceptable when public education is the foundational investment in our state's future –– and the largest item in our state's budget.
Accessible healthcare
Healthcare premiums have grown massively in the last few years, and our access to healthcare professionals has decreased. We need to invest in preventative medicine and care for the disabled, elderly, veteran, and youth population. Bill has supported measures to increase access to healthcare in rural areas and bring more medical professionals to Delaware.
Smart Development
Our state is growing rapidly, and with rapid growth we need responsibilities. We cannot let our infrastructure, environment, and character of our state be sacrificed for profit. Bill has taken measures to protect our wildlife and broken with the majority to prevent an uncontrolled sprawl. We need any new residential or commercial properties to have the roads, sewers, storm drains, and electrical infrastructure before they are built.
Cost of Living
Electrical costs are just the start. We need an approach to tackle the rising costs of groceries, housing, utilities, and other necessary goods to keep Delaware the place to raise a family. Bill supported a bill to keep Data Centers from causing surges on our electrical grid and another to further define responsibilities of landlords for manufactured homes, including utility installation and maintenance.
Public Service
Bill has supporting public service professionals the cornerstone of his career. Our first responders need to be supported so they can support us in our hour of need. Bill's priorities are making sure that they, along with our veterans, get a strong wage and retirement benefits.
