District 34
Camden, Wyoming, Woodside, Magnolia

About Annie

Annie moved from Sussex to Kent County in 1982 where she would work under 8 different governors in the state library system. This August, she retired from her position as Delaware's State Librarian.

With her experience, her main priority is in making government work for the people. We are disconnected from our state government because too often they are not reaching out to us, and when we come to them, there is too much bureaucracy and inefficiency in the way. Annie has the experience as state librarian of running a system that is open, accessible, and cost efficient for every Delawarean.

She lives in Camden with three generations of her family under one roof. Her kids have attended three different school districts, and she herself has served as PTA/PTO president at multiple schools.

Priorities

Healthcare Access

Healthcare is too expensive. We spend more on healthcare than any other country, and it still takes us months just to get a checkup scheduled. Annie supports measures that will make Delaware more attractive for healthcare professionals and lower healthcare costs for seniors and children.

Smart Growth

Kent County has been growing rapidly. That is something to be proud of, but it is also a signal that we cannot continue uncontrolled sprawl. In order to maintain the character of our towns, keep housing affordable, and protect our infrastructure and environment, we have to implement measures alongside county council to ensure any further growth is done in a responsible manner that does not leave current residents with the short end of the stick.

Quality Education

In her career, Annie has had a bigger impact on Delaware's education system than even many state legislators. Her tenure as Delaware's state librarian focused on improving child literacy, increasing , and making our school system work better. She will continue her successful track record in the General Assembly to make sure every child gets the education they deserve.

Our Rights

Lyndon Yearick has repeatedly failed to commit to our rights. Annie stands up for us. Unlike Yearick, she will vote to confirm mail-in voting, same-day voter registration, marriage equality, and abortion rights.

Fighting Data Centers

Multiple data centers have been proposed in Delaware, none of which would benefit Delawareans more than they benefit their builders and Silicon Valley corporations. Ayanna supports legislation to block these projects wherever they are proposed. We can be for progress and technology without sacrificing our state's wellbeing.
